80 km from Mumbai. a century from it, if you wanted.

Two villas with private pools. Five tents built for the rain. Two container homes with an open-air jacuzzi. A café that puts the speakers outside. A private lake we are not allowed to name. A waterfall that only shows up from June.

The lake is ours in the way a cat is yours — it lets you use it.

A private lake, visible from every villa and tent. From June the waterfall shows up; by October it has quietly retired. Swim, kayak, or sit on the rock and do the thing most guests came here to do, which is nothing.

The waterfall came back on Tuesday.

A short letter from the hosts on the first day of water this season — who was here, what was loud, and which dogs noticed first.

What we're planting this summer.

Tomatoes that will absolutely fail. A new bed of basil. Three types of chilli, because we never learn. A case for over-planting.

Open-mic № 21, in pictures.

A poet, a harmonica player, a woman who recited a recipe as a poem, and a dog that refused to leave the stage for eleven minutes.
